Sandy skater takes third place in Free Flow Tour

SALT LAKE CITY — Showing dominance throughout the entire weekend, 15-year-old Alec Majerus took the win at the 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals for skate park today. Majerus then took the first seed for the Final Jam Session on Saturday, where the top six competitors were given seven minutes to lay it all on the line.

With a 89.55, Majerus from Rochester, Minn. earned the victory after executing a switch 80 front feeble down the rail and kick backflip down the big rail. Anthony Estrada of Ontario, Calif. was second with a 84.12 and Tyson Bowerbank of Sandy finished in third place with a score of 82.65.

"I'm really excited to skate with the pros at the Dew Tour Championships," Majerus said. "After skating in the Finals the two previous years, I knew I really wanted to win this year, so I just tried to stay consistent with my skating."

Majerus is a three-time Finalist on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, having won stops in 2008 and 2009. This win earns him a spot in the Dew Tour Championships, where he will compete against the pro skaters.

The four-day skateboarding and BMX event will continue tonight with the BMX dirt Finals, and wrap-up tomorrow with the Skate Vert Finals and BMX Park Finals.
