Those who argue that the deer were here first tend to be enigmatic when one considers the snails, spiders, flies, gophers and mice that might also have been here "first." Their reason seems to lack a certain perspicacity. I don't want to seem querulous, but it would seem to be pusillanimous and foolish to take a quiescent attitude about the debasement and damage the deer are doing.
It is not my intent to be pugnacious, nor do I desire to be puissant or petulant in this matter. I do feel a poignant grief at the loss of life.
Therefore let it be perspicuous that I will defend the right-to-life of roses, tomato plants, foliage, and ground cover against those marauding masticating monsters of nefarious character who are devastating beauty with their destructive demeanor — those pestiferous creatures, the deer!
