BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres top-line forward Drew Stafford has a mild groin injury and is expected to miss the next two games.

Coach Lindy Ruff listed Stafford as day to day Wednesday, a day after he was hurt in a 2-1 overtime win over Montreal. Stafford played only two shifts before leaving in the first period.

The Sabres (20-20-5) play at Boston on Thursday and then return home to host the New York Islanders on Friday. There's a possibility Stafford could return for Buffalo's game at Long Island on Sunday.

Stafford is second on the team with 15 goals, five of them coming in his previous eight games. Buffalo's already down its top center, Derek Roy, who will miss the rest of the season after tearing his left quadriceps tendon last month.
