Cell phone issues hamper 3 Lakers

It may sound like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is in charge of getting Jean-Paul, the Olympian runner who overslept, to the marathon on time, but there have been some recent issues with alarm clocks in sports lately.

ESPN's Ric Bucher reported that three Lakers, including Pau Gasol and Luke Walton, but not Kobe Bryant, did not get up for a shootaround before a game Sunday against Memphis due to iPhone issues.

Bucher says Gasol told him that he was late to the shootaround, but he learned from a team official that the Laker missed the entire session.

Bucher also reported that iPhone users had complained of similar issues around the world with the coming of 2011.

Gasol managed just 10 points during the loss.

Yahoo! Sports' Eric Freeman notes that 10 years ago another Laker, Isaiah "J.R." Rider missed a team bus due to a faulty alarm.

In August of 2010, Jay Busbee reported that Jim Furyk was disqualified for The Barclays because his cell phone alarm didn't go off, making him miss the tee time for the pro-am event.
