Stanley J. Ortar"One Great Man"1935 ~ 2011Stanley Joseph Ortar, our beloved Father, Grandfather and Friend passed away on Oct 17, 2011 with his family by his side.Stan was born on August 25, 1935 in Sandy, Utah to Joseph and Josephine Ortar. Stan married Joyce Howard, later divorced. They had two children, Scott (Roseann) Ortar, and Bonnie Ferguson.On September 24, 1964 Stan married the love of his life, Donna Goetz. Their children are Lonny (Lee) Goetz, Marsha Goetz, Jerry Goetz, and Don (Barbara) Goetz. He has 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; his son, Jerry, and his beloved wife, Donna.Stan was a self-employed Stone Mason, a job that he did for 50 years. He took pride in the work that he did. His beautiful stonework is visible throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Stan loved hunting and fishing and the great outdoors. He taught his boys and grandchildren to love the outdoors like he did. He was a very kind, gentle man who loved his family.Everyone knew Stan for his friendliness and his sense of humor. There could never be enough good said about Stan, a special man that will be dearly missed by all.Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, where there will be viewings Thursday 6-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mt. Calvary Cemetery.www.goffmortuary.com
