CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson's Tajh Boyd and South Carolina's Connor Shaw will get their first shot starting in the state's biggest rivalry. Both are sophomore quarterbacks, though they have plenty of experience getting tossed into near impossible situations.

Boyd entered this rivalry game at Death Valley a year ago as a little used first-year player and was hammered by the Gamecocks in a 29-7 loss. Shaw was put in down the stretch in 2010 of South Carolina's 35-27 loss at national champion Auburn, his two interceptions choking off Gamecocks rallies.

The two feel much better prepared for Saturday's contest, when No. 18 Clemson travels to No. 18 South Carolina on Saturday night.

Boyd leads the ACC in total offense and touchdown throws. Shaw's running has become a focal point of the Gamecocks' reworked offense.
