BURLEY, Idaho — A south-central Idaho man has been arraigned on a second-degree murder charge after a man's body was found in a pickup truck during a weekend traffic stop, prosecutors said.
Michael Jared Thompson, 24, also was charged Monday with an enhancement penalty in the death of Michael Kenneth Blair, 21, who authorities say was killed Saturday after they got into an argument. Both men are from Burley.
Minidoka County prosecutors allege Blair was shot in the head during an argument with Thompson as the two men were traveling home from a bar in Paul with two women early Saturday. Thompson is accused of driving the pickup when the fatal shot was fired.
Authorities pulled over the vehicle while investigating reports of a suspected drunk driver in the area. Officers said a woman covered in blood was behind the wheel.
Thompson and the other woman were not at the scene when the pickup was stopped about a mile from where the shooting occurred, prosecutors said. Blair's body was found in the pickup with a gunshot wound.
