Martha Beth Nicholson Makin1921 ~ 2011Martha Beth Nicholson Makin, 90, of Salt Lake City dies peacefully of cancer following a short illness at the Care Source Hospice on December 22nd, 2011. She was born December 9, 1921 in Salt Lake City to William and Martha Nicholson. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Niles Russell Makin; as well as her parents and her sisters Arvilla, Erma, Vera and brother Bill. She graduated from West High School in 1937; was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and volunteered at St. Marks Hospital.She is survived by two daughters, Colleen West (Jonathan) and Joan Brinton (Steve) and her niece Susan Lawson (San). She had seven grandchildren; Jonathan Lowell West, Brigham Niles West, Ashley B. Neilson (Brett), Taylor Brinton (Erin), Crisanne L. Hitler (George), Megan L. Federhofer (Nick) and Ryan Lawson as well as 13 great grandchildren.Her family is especially thankful for the kindness and thoughtful care given by Dr. Robert Hill and the staff of Care Source Hospice who made her final days comfortable. She was a devoted Mother and remained a strong and determined Lady to the end. Rest in peace, we love you.A private graveside service will be held. She will be laid to rest at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park next to her husband. The family requests that memorial gifts in her name be given to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
