DRAPER — The driver of a car that collided head-on with an empty vehicle on Bangerter Highway escaped with minor injuries Friday evening.

Police say Luis Alfonso Ramirez was driving near 9000 South about 10 p.m., when his vehicle struck the side of another vehicle. Ramirez continued along the roadway, reportedly reaching speeds of 100 mph.

He was was traveling east in a westbound lane when he struck an unoccupied, broken-down vehicle head-on near 13600 South, police said. Ramirez was taken to Intermountain Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.

He was later arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. Police reported that Ramirez urinated on a police vehicle on the way to the jail.
