Obituary: NIELSON, DARRELL

Darrell Nielson12/17/1925 ~ 12/21/2011Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, age 86, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011. He was born December 17, 1925 in Central Sevier, Utah, to Lewis F. Nielson and Harriet Roberts. He married Luie Bell March 18, 1947, solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May 19, 1961. He served in World War II on the USS North Carolina. He worked as a Jet Engine Mechanic in the test block at Hill Air Force Base and retired December 31, 1982. He was a member of the LDS church and served in the bishopric and high council and many other callings, also served 4 missions. Survived by: his wife; daughter, Debra (Lyle); 4 sons, Dan (Tawna), Mike (Connie), Tracy (Sandy), Ray (Wayne); 18 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Jean Riddle, Lila Gay Billings; and brother, Tex Nielson. Preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 10th Ward, 5025 West 4865 South. Viewings will be held Monday, December 26 from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday the 27th from 9:45 am to 10:45 am at the 10th Ward church. Interment Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
