Fred Heward Mecham1922 ~ 2011Fred Heward Mecham, age 89, passed away December 19, 2011 surrounded by his family in American Fork Hospital. He was reunited with the love of his life on their 66th wedding anniversary. Born March 16, 1922 in Orem, Utah to William Wallace and Mary Della Heward Mecham. He married Ruth Furner December 19, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed away January 1, 1983. Fred enjoyed traveling with his family, photography and gardening. He served as a medic in the US Army, and later retired from Geneva Steel. He was active in the LDS Church.He is survived by 6 daughters and 3 sons: Maxine (Roy) Buhler, Highland; Linda, Patsy, & Janice of American Fork; Marvin (Elaine), Santaquin; Bryan (Rosa),Lehi; Shirley (Randy) Lewis, West Jordan; Joyce (Michael) Bonnett, Pleasant Grove; Alan (Vickie), Nephi; 37 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and 5 siblings.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 25th Ward 455 East 300 North. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
