Grace McPhie 1912 ~ 2011On December 22, 2011, one month after her 99th birthday, Grace McPhie passed peacefully from this life to rejoin the many friends and family members who have gone on before her. She was born in Tooele November 19, 1912 to James H. (Jim) and Elizabeth Bean (Nellie) Harris. She met Daniel P. McPhie and they were married May 15, 1933. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple July 1, 1949 and were loving companions for fifty five years. Grace was a notoriously hard worker who gave service to everyone she knew especially her family. She idolized her parents, Jim and Nellie and spent many hours providing for their needs, especially in their declining years. Her sisters were her best friends and she missed them greatly when they preceded her in death. She was the last survivor of their family. "Grandma Grace" was greatly loved by grandkids, great grandkids and great great grandkids. She was famous for her "sleep over" parties and morning after breakfasts of "cowboy eggs". Grace was a lifelong, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and, to the time of her death, loved reading church literature and studying the Scriptures. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, daughter Alice Marie (Bob) Taron, daughter-in-law Helen (Robert A.) McPhie , parents, Jim and Nellie, Brothers John T. Campbell, Oman Harris, William B. Harris, Joseph A. Harris, Grant H. Harris, and George B. Harris and sisters Isabell (Elmer) Madill, Bannie (Jay) Durfee, Ellen(Victor) Smith, and Genave (Ralph) Tanner. She is survived by her sons John D. (Gwen) McPhie and Robert A. (Ann) McPhie and by grandchildren Robyn (Keith) Feldman, Scott McPhie, Marty (Joyce) McPhie, Tim McPhie, Lisa (Tony) Loveless, Holly (Guy) Shields, Troy (Kim) Taron), Todd (Leslie) McPhie, Shaun (Lori) Taron, Eric (Jennie) McPhie and numerous great and great-great grand children also by her special nieces, Bonnie Gardner and Katherine Gillespie. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Overtake Third Ward Chapel, 1717 Berra Blvd. Viewing will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Tooele City cemetery. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Brad Mower of Harmony Hospice and her "special" aides at Cottage glen who gave Mom so much loving care.
