SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah women's basketball team will take on Utah Valley tonight at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. The contest marks the Utes' final non-conference game before opening Pac-12 play against Colorado on Saturday.

Utah (6-4) has won four of its last five games and is on a two-game winning streak. The Utes ousted New Mexico State, 74-37, on Dec. 21, and are steadily improving as they head towards conference play.

"I am really pleased with the way we played heading into Christmas break. We need to make another improvement in the couple of days we have after Christmas and getting closer to conference," Utah head coach Anthony Levrets said. "We need to make sure we get better in all phases as we get closer to conference and against a quality opponent like Utah Valley."

Utah Valley is 6-5 on the season, with wins over Idaho State and Weber State — both of which the Utes have also met and defeated this season. The Wolverines also took on Southern Utah but fell to the Thunderbirds on Nov. 30.

"Utah Valley is a very well-coached team and they are sound at both ends of the floor," Levrets said.

Utah has defeated Utah Valley three times since UVU moved into Division I in 2003-04.
