WEST JORDAN — An 88-year-old man who attempted to make a left turn in front of an on-coming vehicle was struck and killed Wednesday.
The accident happened about 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of 9000 South and 1300 West. A vehicle attempting to make a left turn onto 1300 West was struck by a southbound vehicle, said West Jordan Police Sgt. Drew Sanders.
Debris from the accident hit a third vehicle also waiting to make a turn.
The name of the 88-year-old driver who was killed was not immediately released.
The 19-year-old female driving the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The intersection was expected to be closed several hours while investigators went over the accident scene.
The accident was just a couple of blocks away from a tragic Christmas Eve head-on collision that claimed the life of a 1-year-old boy.
