Sophia Catharina VanTussenbroek Anderson1930 ~ 2011Our loving mother, Sophia Catharina VanTussenbroek Anderson, passed away peacefully December 26, 2011 in her home in Eagle Mountain, Utah. She battled Leukemia valiantly for over six years. She passed away in the loving arms of her children. She was born August 10, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arie and Anna Hofman VanTussenbroek.Mom graduated from South HS in SLC, UT. After graduation she worked as a Secretary at the LDS Genealogical Society. She married Doyle Rich Anderson on December 11, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they did an amazing job raising their six children. Mom and Dad lived in Idaho, Utah, Michigan, Iowa and Kansas during their 52 wonderful years of marriage. Mom loved raising her family, serving others, cooking, sewing, singing, and watching her children play sports. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in multiple callings. She had a deep love for the Lord. Mom spent countless hours serving as secretary to Dad as he worked to complete his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral Degrees. Mom and Dad served a two year LDS Church Education Service Mission in Lawrence, Kansas.Survivors include six children, Catherine A. Phillips, Jay D. (Brenda), Sophia Dawn (Howard)Stevens, DeLin R. (DeNae), Arie D. (Geniel), Melinda J. (Mark) Maxfield; 26 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother Adrian VanTussenbroek. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years Doyle, her parents and sisters, Nellie Robbins and Corrie Terry.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Pass 1st Ward, 2977 East Saddlerock Road, Eagle Mountain, UT. Friends and family can visit Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Salt Lake City, UT; and at the church Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Our family thanks First Choice Home Health and Hospice staff for their excellent care of Mom. We also thank Holbrook Mortuary for their services. Interment: Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
