EL PASO, Texas — It remains to be seen if Wednesday's announcement of a long-term scheduling collaboration between the Pac-12 and Big Ten will bring an end to University of Utah football rivalries with BYU and Utah State.
The plan will lock up 10 games (nine Pac-12 and one against a Big Ten foe) each year for the Utes.
"We have to sit and look at what we're doing with our non-conference schedule that relates to everybody, including Utah State and BYU. I think it's just a time to take a step back," Hill said. "As we talked about when we got invited to the Pac-12 and accepted that, we've got to make sure that we keep our eyes and ears open to see what's best for our university."
Hill wanted to wait for the collaboration announcement before discussing the situation with Tom Holmoe of BYU and Scott Barnes of Utah State.
"I'll sit down and talk to them and see what's best," Hill said. "And just be very honest with each other and decide how we're going to move forward."
