FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer insists he is not concerned about his job security.
Schottenheimer adds he doesn't think the offense needs a good performance Sunday in the regular-season finale at Miami for him to remain with the team.
Schottenheimer, in his sixth season with the Jets, says Thursday he has been given no indication about his future by the team amid growing speculation that he could be fired. He says he's "an excellent coach" but adds that "there's things that clearly I can do better."
He received a two-year extension before the season, and says he hasn't thought about not returning with the Jets for next season. The Jets' offense ranks 27th in the NFL, something Schottenheimer says he "absolutely" deserves blame for.
