New movie and television releases on Blu-ray and DVD are pretty skimpy and dreary this week.
"Final Destination 5" (New Line/Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy, 2011; R for violence, language; $35.99). Strictly for fans of the formula slasher franchise. This time Death is unable to efficiently do away with a busload of young people, so the intended victims are tracked down one by one and creatively killed in increasingly gory ways.
Extras widescreen; Blu-ray, DVD and digital versions; alternate scenes, featurettes (also on single-disc DVD, $28.98)
"The Pool Boys" (eOne/Blu-ray, 2010; R for sex, nudity, language, drugs; $29.98). Matthew Lilliard and Tom Arnold star in this unfunny farce from the "American Pie" folks about the title characters taking over a Beverly Hills mansion and turning it into a brothel.
Extras widescreen, featurettes
"The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret: Series One" (MPI, 2010, $24.98). Extremely foul-mouthed anti-sitcom with David Cross as a hapless dork who, through convoluted circumstances, finds himself in England. There, he wreaks havoc with every idiotic decision he makes, usually based on lies since he seems incapable of telling the truth. Strictly for Cross fans.
Extras widescreen, six episodes, deleted scenes, extended first episode, audio commentaries, featurettes, bloopers
"Shameless: The Complete First Season" (Warner/Blu-ray, 2011, three discs, $49.99). William H. Macy stars as the drunkard head of the family in this Showtime comedy series, which, of course, garners humor from all things inappropriate. And, this being Showtime, it is also replete with foul language and graphic depictions of sex, nudity, drugs, etc.
Extras widescreen, 12 episodes, audio commentary, featurettes, trailers
