Robert Vincent Barnes1922 ~ 2011Robert Vincent Barnes, age 89, passed away December 27, 2011. He was born January 11, 1922 in Edgewood, Iowa to James and Doris Barnes. He married the love of his life, Mary Chambers on May 26, 1951. They served together on this earth just shy of sixty years before her passing in April. We rejoice that they are together once again as it just hasn't been the same for him without her. Together they raised four children, Susan Plouzek (Kim), Paul Barnes, Douglas Barnes (Ellise), and Cheryl Lockwood. Those who knew Robert will remember him as a husband and father first. He worked hard all his life and taught his children principles of responsibilities and honor. He lived in various states throughout his life. When asked his favorite place he would say that they all were. Robert is a retired highway engineer. He enjoyed serving in various temples with his wife until her passing. Dad, you are already missed by everyone you touched but you will live through us. Thank you isn't enough to say for all you gave us. We love you.Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park.
