Mark Charles StanleyAugust 6, 1953 ~ December 25, 2011Mark C. Stanley passed away on December 25, 2011 after a courageous four year battle with brain cancer. He was born August 6, 1953 to E. Wayne and Leola Stanley in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the oldest of seven brothers and grew up as an Air Force brat. He attended Ricks College and later graduated from BYU. On August 6, 1975 Mark married his sweetheart Candy Ann Grow in the Salt Lake Temple. He then joined the Air Force where he served his country for 20 years and was blessed with four beautiful children. While in the Air Force he worked with Minuteman and Peacekeeper missiles and earned a Master's degree. Towards the end of his military career he went back to school to get his teaching credentials. After retiring from the Air Force Mark spent nine years teaching science at Joel P. Jensen Middle School. During this time he went back to school and earned another Master's in Administration, which allowed him to spend the last five years as an assistant principal at South Hills Middle School. He worked hard and gave everything to his military and teaching careers. He also cherished the many friendships he was blessed with along the way. He concluded his remarkable life of service by serving our Heavenly Father as a Jordan River Temple worker. Mark loved his family most of all and enjoyed spending time with them. Mark is survived by his wife Candy and their children; Ted (Mandy), Jill (Jason), Wendy (Brandon), Emily (Mark), 11 adorable grandchildren, his mother and five brothers. He was preceded in death by his brother Ted and his father Wayne. Friends may call Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 10:00 to Noon in the Relief Society room of the West Jordan Stake Center, 2666 W 7000 S, followed by funeral services in the chapel at 12:30 p.m.
