James Sterling Anderson1928 ~ 2011Lt Col. (retired) James Sterling Anderson passed away December 27, 2011, in Heber, Utah. He had fought a long and courageous battle against cancer. Sterling was born in Grantsville, Utah, to Joseph Sterling Anderson and Lucille Gowans Anderson on September 11, 1928. He graduated from Utah State University and was commissioned into the United States Air Force. He married LouAnna Fitzgerald of Heber, Utah, on December 27, 1952. Together they traveled the world giving their six children many opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. It was a great life! While in the Air Force Sterling served in may capacities, but especially enjoyed his time working with the Minute Man Missile. After 25 years in the Air Force he retired and came home to Utah, settling in Heber.Sterling was active in his community serving as President of the Wasatch School Board, President of the Wasatch County Board of Realtors and was involved in many other community organizations. His integrity was unquestionable and his willingness and desire to help anyone who could use a helping hand will always be remembered. Sterling was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He spent many hours at sporting events, birthdays, baptisms, graduations, horse shows and any other event where he could lend his support and love.Sterling is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, LouAnna Anderson; six children: Lt. Col. (ret.) Sterling Scott and Shelley Anderson (Dandy, Virginia), Mark and Maureen Anderson (Bozeman, Montana), Bret Anderson (Bangkok, Thailand), Debbie and Kevin Gardiner (Heber, Utah), Dane and Jane Anderson (Lewiston, Utah), and Chris and Kristie Anderson (Laurel, Montana); 14 grandchildren: Laurie and Kyle Shaw (Florida), Lynn Marie Anderson (New York City), Kelley Anderson (Virginia), Wesly and Candace Anderson (Australia), Jesse Anderson (Montana), Sarah and Sage Teichert (Idaho), Lane and Jesika Gardiner (Idaho), Chelsie and Brandon Wilson (Utah), Kaden, Chet and Shea Anderson (Utah), Sadie, Colton and Brooke Anderson (Montana); two great-grandsons: Flint Sterling Teichert and Hayes Reed Gardiner; brother, Doug (Janet) Anderson of Salt Lake City; and sister, Diane (Kent) Wilson of American Fork. Also, survived by two very lonely dogs.We will miss Dad's positive outlook on everything, his great sense of humor, his kindness, and most of all the daily sacrifices he made for all of us.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or Primary Children's Hospital.Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 12 Noon in the Heber North LDS Stake Center 521 East 500 North, Heber City. Viewings will be Friday from 6:00 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 11:30 a.m. prior to the services both at the LDS Church. Interment will follow the services in the Heber City Cemetery.
