Twice a year, we see a few letters to the editor complaining about daylight saving time. Nothing ever happens. The last time a bill was introduced in the Utah Legislature concerning daylight saving time was in 2010.
It never got out of committee. Well, now we've got another shot at it. Rep. Jim Nielson, R-Bountiful, plans to introduce HB199, which will keep Utah on standard time all year. Maybe those grumblers should try a new tactic. Wait until Nielson's bill is assigned to a committee, find the names of the members of the committee and write them your letters. If the public shows enough interest, we may be able to bring it to a vote on the House floor. That's how a representative democracy works.
