WEST VALLEY CITY — The Stockton Thunder defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-1 Wednesday night at Maverik Center.
Stockton built a 2-0 second intermission lead with two power-play goals.
Utah made it 2-1 1:48 into the third period as Ryley Grantham shot a puck that initially was saved, but then went behind Stockton goaltender Bryan Pitton.
Stockton though came back after a Utah power-play with three goals in less than six minutes to build a 5-1 lead.
Utah continues their series with Stockton on Friday.
