HANKSVILLE — A 70-year-old Colorado Springs man died after falling 100 feet in a climbing accident in No Man's Canyon near Hanksville Friday, Wayne County authorities said.

Louis Cicotello fell while rappelling during an outing with his 57-year-old brother David Cicotello of Tennessee. Family members had asked state and local authorities to check on the welfare of the men after they could not reach them during their week-long outing.

A search launched Friday by Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County Search and Rescue and the Utah Highway Patrol was suspended at nightfall. The men were spotted by a UHP helicopter about 11 a.m. Saturday, at which time David Cicotello was stranded on a ledge.

David Cicotello was rescued by the High Angle team and the UHP helicopter. He was then transported by helicopter to a Moab hospital for treatment of dehydration.
