Instead of sleeping in, these girls chose to spend their free time Saturday learning about math and science at the third annual Salt Lake City Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) in Science and Mathematics Conference sponsored by ATK Aerospace Systems. The conference included a keynote speaker, as well as workshops involving building rockets, generating green energy, defying the laws of physics, and space exploration. Girls even had the opportunity to extract DNA. A total of 29 different hands-on workshops were offered, giving girls a first-hand opportunity to learn that careers in math and science can be fun.
