Olga Florence Dalnodar Auntie
Olga Florence Dalnodar, 91 years young, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 11, 2011. Born May 2, 1919 to Erminia Anselmi and Bortolo Dalnodar in Superior, Wyoming. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Americo, sister Jennie Stanga, brothers-in-law Jack Davis and Isador Stanga and nephew Gary Stanga. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Olga worked in the Wyoming Department of Education for sevem years before moving to Salt Lake City. Retired from Chevron (then Standard Oil) after 36 years, she was proud to represent Chevron in EWI, (Executive Women International) where she served as Chapter President (1972) and was the Corporate Director of EWI (1983-1984). An avid golfer, Olga was a member of the Chevron Women's and the Bonneville Ladies Golf Associations. Her very favorite time at Forest Dale Golf Course was sharing the "Marshall" cart with her nephew, Bob Davis during the annual Jack Davis Memorial Golf Tournament. She devotedly cared for her mother, our beloved Noni, for 30 years in their home. Fiercely independent until the end, Olga refused to use a wheelchair, saying "Wheelchairs are for old people." Olga's family lovingly cared for her for the past few years, especially our dear Jackie who juggled many roles and managed Auntie's affairs. Dianne and Patricia would tuck her in at night; Jill, Lori and Jackie took turns making her breakfast. Bill was her on-call handyman and she loved her long-distance calls from Bob, Lisa, Jim and Burt. Her great-niece Megan took care of her on Monday nights and enjoyed learning Olga's Austrian dialect. Auntie especially loved Wednesday night pizza parties with her "little squirrels," Abigail, Carlie, Emily and Anna. They would sing, dance, polish her nails and wear her out. Olga's loving caretakers, Wilma Pingret and Tania Maria Chesa, treated her with compassion, love and respect and became part of our family. We will treasure the time we had with her. She was dearly loved and was an incredibly important part of all of our lives. A devout Catholic, Olga was a long-time member of St. Ann Parish and received Holy Communion every Sunday from Sister Michele or either Jane or George Starks. Olga is survived by her sister Ruby Davis and three generations of nieces and nephews of whom she was extremely proud. "Not a rotten one in the bunch" was her favorite saying. She is now in God's care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Ann Parish or a charity of your choice. A vigil service will be held on Monday, March 14th at 6:00 p.m. at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, where a wake will follow until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15th at 10:00 a.m. St. Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South, Salt Lake City.
