Boyd Loris Park 1929 ~ 2011
Boyd Loris Park of Orem, Utah, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 27, 2011 at the age of 81. Boyd was born on Aug. 21, 1929 in Nephi, Utah to Loris Edward Park and Zelphia May Rolfe. He grew up in Springville and graduated from Springville High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Boyd married his loving and eternal companion, Margaret Ferguson, on Sept. 2, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Boyd continued his education at BYU where he obtained his BS Degree in Accounting in 1954, and then attended the U of U where he obtained his Law Degree in 1957. For a few years, he taught business law, accounting, and tax classes at BYU. Boyd had a successful law practice in Spanish Fork and Provo for about 30 years. In 1986, he was appointed as a Judge in the Fourth Judicial District Court where he served for 11 years until his retirement in 1997. His character and personal standards of honesty and integrity were exemplary. His reputation among his peers as an Attorney and Judge were that of honesty, competency, fairness, civility, and professionalism. Boyd was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life. He loved the gospel and served in many callings including Bishop, Stake Clerk, High Councils, and Stake Patriarch. His steadfastness in living the gospel of Jesus Christ has been a great example to everyone, and he took great joy that his entire family is dedicated to the gospel. Boyd gave many years of community service through the Kiwanis organization, on the Spanish Fork City Council, and the Utah County Planning Commission. Boyd loved spending time at home in his yard and garden. Boyd also loved spending time up Spanish Fork canyon at his ranch where he taught his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work, the value and blessings of the earth, and respect for nature. Most of all, Boyd loved his family. He dearly loved his devoted and caring wife who spent countless hours caring for him and his family. He loved all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and was very proud of them. We will all miss his kindness, guidance, unconditional love, and the many stories he shared with us. Being with his family brought him great joy. He loved to attend the special events and activities of his children and grand-children. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Hutchings, and daughter Diane Park. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Park, and his children: Sharon Sperry (Keith), Reed Park (Julie), Julie Hendricks (Craig), and David Park (Amy), sister Donna Park, and brother Carl Park. Boyd also has 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Mar. 4, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest 6th Ward Chapel, 1035 S. 800 E., Orem, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, Mar. 3rd, from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N., Orem, Utah, and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Church.
