While University of Utah officials maintain their silence on the search for Jim Boylen's replacement, a few names in and out of the rumor mill are making some news.
— Old Dominion coach Blaine Taylor has met with Wyoming officials about the opening in Laramie. The 53-year-old Montana native has coached the Monarchs for 10 years and has led them into the NCAA tourney in four of the past seven seasons.
— A blogger at blocku.com is reporting that Saint Mary's coach Randy Bennett negotiated with Utah officials to become the next coach, but is now likely to turn it down.
— Michigan State coach Tom Izzo may have an opening on his staff if assistant Mark Montgomery gets the Northern Illinois job. Izzo, however, doesn't expect former employee Boylen to fill it. He told the Lansing State Journal that he thinks the ex-Utah coach will return to the NBA.
— Jeff Schultz, a sports blogger for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, takes issue with The Sporting News ranking the Utah job ahead of the Georgia Tech post. — And finally, Midmajormadness.com takes a look at the coaching carousel in college basketball. Utah is included.
