WASHINGTON — First Lady Michelle Obama says her daughters Sasha and Malia would be in a lot of trouble if they tried the antics in "The Cat and the Hat."
As she read aloud about the book's two siblings messing up their mother's dress, Obama told elementary students: "I wouldn't be happy about any of this."
Obama and first lady Margarita Zavala (ZAH'-vah-lah) of Mexico read to about 350 students in kindergarten through third grade at Oyster-Adams Bilingual Elementary in Washington on Thursday.
Obama said she chose the book about the mischievous cat in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, which was Wednesday. Zavala read "The Whales' Song" in Spanish.
The first ladies read at the school in support of Read Across America.
