PROVO — Three women suffered serious injuries Thursday night from a crash caused by a driver who police say may have been drunk.

Clay Chipman was driving north on 550 West around 9 p.m. when he drove into southbound lanes of traffic and struck a vehicle head-on, said Provo Police Sgt. Scott Jensen.

Two other vehicles were also involved in the collision.

Police arrested Chipman and booked him into the Utah County Jail for investigation of driving under the influence and several other charges.

Emergency personnel extricated three female occupants from the southbound vehicle and transported them to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
