Myrl Harriet Green Haight passed away March 3, 2011 surrounded by her husband and children at the age of 83. Myrl was born February 12, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leah Elliott Green and Leo E. Green. She was born in her Grandma Elliott's home, the fourth daughter of six. In 1948, she married her sweetheart, Francis David Haight. Together they had eight children, one of whom died shortly after birth. After her husband graduated from the University of Utah, they moved to California where Frank taught school for 27 years. They lived in Oxnard and finally in Torrance. Myrl and Frank served a mission in Oslo, Norway from 1979 - 1980. Since then she and Frank have helped 11 grandsons and one granddaughter serve LDS missions. Myrl was very proud of the fact that all four of her sons served LDS missions. After returning from their mission, Myrl and Frank returned to Utah where Frank taught an additional 16 years. She devoted her life to raising her seven children. Over the years she proudly served her church in various callings which include, the Relief Society and Ward Chorister. She also sang with "The Singing Mothers." She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and going to the temple. At the age of 18, Myrl suffered from polio. The Kenny treatment was used to relieve the pain of her paralyzed legs. She has suffered from many health challenges during her lifetime. In 1987 she was in an auto accident that resulted in a broken neck and hip. Throughout her many challenges and illnesses, Myrl was always positive and greeted others with a smile. She had a sweet little laugh and a way of making others feel that they were loved and important. Her thoughts were always about the welfare of her children and grandchildren. Her parents, infant son William, and three sisters preceded her in death. Her husband Frank, who cared lovingly for her in her last years of ill health, survives her. Seven children survive her: David (Jeanyce), Christine Claybaugh (Denny), Robert (Sherrill), Barbara Larsen (Dave), Michael (Erin), Richard (Marla), Diane Cottle (Dennis), and 34 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mesa Park Ward, 1850 East 8600 South, Sandy, UT.
