Our dear sweet wife, Mom, daughter, sister and friend died in her home after a two-year battle with colorectal cancer. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joel Willis and Glenis Terry Burdette. She married Tom Hulbert on March 7, 1988 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a wonderful wife and a dedicated mother to her children. Her family was most important to her and she was a great, supportive "soccer mom!" You could find her on the sidelines cheering her boys on, even on days when she was sick from chemotherapy and did not want to do anything else. Heather lived a full life of activity. She loved boating at Lake Powell and going on cruises to the Caribbean with friends. She enjoyed cheering for and attending University of Utah football and basketball games. She loved the Utes. Heather loved to run. She competed in many marathons and enjoyed the time spent with her running buddies. In 2007 she ran the Saint George Marathon, qualifying her to compete in the Boston Marathon. In 2008 she realized her goal by running the Boston Marathon. Last June, Heather courageously ran in the Wasatch Back Relay after enduring chemo treatments all winter. She was not even able to train but she successfully completed what turned out to be her final run with a big smile on her face. Among Heather's great accomplishments are the many friends she has. She was a true friend herself and in return had many that love and care about her. Heather was a gourmet cook in her own right and she loved photography as well. She has left a legacy of delicious recipes and beautiful pictures for us all to enjoy and remember her by. She had a talent for decorating and a style about her with her dress. Heather was an unbelievable example of handling adversity and trials with grace, unconditional love, forgiveness and charity. She lived the gospel to its fullest. Heather was feisty. She fought the good fight in her battle with cancer. She wanted desperately to remain here on this earth with her family and did all in her power and faith to accomplish this. As a result of everyone's faith and prayers, we were able to enjoy additional time with Heather doing the things she loved. We are grateful for the miracles we received. Heather is survived by her husband Tom and her children, Joel, Erik and Scott. Heather is also survived by her mother Glenis (Duane) Welling, mother-in-law Lois (Paul) Deardorff, her four sisters, Jolynn (Kerry), Debbie (Kevin), Connie (Scott), Marci (Rusty) all of SLC, Utah, two sisters-in-law Wendy Capener and Kimberly (Craig) Parker and a brother-in-law Robert (Heidi) Hulbert, and many nieces and nephews. Heather was preceded in death by her father Joel Willis Burdette, and father-in-law Jerry Hulbert and grandparents May and Walter Burdette, Clara and LaGrande Terry. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the LDS Bonneville Stake Center, 1535 East Bonneview Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, with a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday evening, March 9, from 7 - 9 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Drive, SLC. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Huntsman Cancer Institute for their loving care and Mr. Jon Huntsman for providing such a wonderful caring institution. We also would like to thank the aides and nurses from SunBrook Hospice for their loving care of Heather in her last days. The Family suggests that in lieu of flowers, please make a contribution or volunteer your time at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wasatchlawn.com.
