LAYTON — The Coalition for A Tobacco Free Utah recently presented Davis Hospital and Medical Center with an award to recognize the facility's efforts in creating a tobacco-free hospital campus.

The hospital joins other facilities across Utah in becoming tobacco-free for the health of patients, employees and visitors, both inside and outside the hospitals. The policy includes all tobacco products including e-cigarettes inside the hospital’s facilities and the walkways that are part of the Davis Hospital campus, including the Tanner Clinic, Davis Surgical Center, Robert F. Bitner Building, Davis Family Physicians, Stevens-Henager College, Davis Medical Plaza, Wasatch Peak Plaza and Wee Care Pediatrics.

Nicotine replacement therapy — such as patches and gum — will be made available to help patrons. The will also be given practical tips for coping without tobacco during hospital stays.
