I am ashamed of the members of the House and Senate who voted in favor of HB477. You have made it clear that we, the people you represent, are too much of a burden. Apparently your desires to represent us in secret are too important to allow any meaningful discussion and deliberation about this bill and merit fast-tracking the bill through the House and Senate.
That explains why HB477 sat there for weeks with a title and no text until the day before its hearing. You did not want to tip off the people you represent and allow them to participate in the discussion about the bill. Obviously you think that transparency is just too much for the public to ask. You only want to be accountable to your fellow legislators, not to your electorate.
So now because of HB477 we won't know about $13 million pay outs to contractors who unfairly lose construction bids, for example.
It appears to me that you have something to hide and don't want to be accountable to your constituents. Perhaps if being in the public eye is too big of a burden, if being transparent is too much, and if being accountable to the people who elect you is too bothersome then you should step down.
My sincere gratitude to those 12 members of the House and 7 Senators who voted against HB477.
