SALT LAKE CITY — An inmate was stabbed at the Utah State Prison Sunday night.
At around 6:30 p.m., the victim sustained 2 or three wounds in the torso from the stabbing, said Department of Correction spokesman Steve Gehrke.
The victim was stabilized and initially treated at the prison infirmary before being sent to an area hospital for precautionary reasons, Gehrke said. When he left the prison, he was communicating with emergency personnel.
Investigators are determining what type of weapon was used and how it was obtained, Gehrke said.
