SACRAMENTO — Five Sacramento pitchers combined to throw a three hit shutout, as the River Cats blanked the Salt Lake Bees 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Sacramento had chances to take an early lead, but Salt Lake starter Ryan Ketchner escaped a bases loaded, one out situation in the first inning and a bases full, no out situation in the second. The River Cats, though, broke through in the eighth inning against Kevin Jepsen (1-1). Adrian Cardenas led off with a double and scored on a single by Anthony Recker. Recker later scored on a squeeze bunt by Adam Heether.

Gil Velazquez singled in the eighth inning to extend his hitting streak to eighteen games. Efren Navarro and Reggie Willits also had one hit each, as the Bees were shutout for the second time this season. Twelve Salt Lake batters struck out, as the Bees have now dropped the first two games in Sacramento and seven of their last eight overall games.
