BOUNTIFUL — A boy was hit by a car while crossing the street here Monday, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Three children were crossing at 200 South and 100 East in an unmarked crosswalk, when one of them turned back to pick something up that he dropped, said Bountiful Police Lt. Sol Oberg.

The boy, about 7 years old, was struck by a vehicle.

The boy was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center, but Oberg said there did not appear initially to be any severe injuries. The victim was conscious and alert, he said.

"He seemed to be doing well, all things considered," Oberg said.

There was no immediate word whether the driver who hit the boy will be cited.
