WASHINGTON — Think you can do better than President Barack Obama and congressional leaders in reaching a deal to end the showdown over the federal deficit? There's a computer game that gives you a chance to play "Budget Hero."

That's the title of the game — "Budget Hero 2-point-oh." It's an update of the original version, which came out in 2008.

Players learn how difficult it might be to carry out their grand policy idea — universal health care, extending the Bush tax cuts or ending foreign aid — and still keep the government from becoming irrelevant or going broke.

A nonpartisan think tank in Washington, The Woodrow Wilson Center, developed the game with American Public Media. The game is free, and available at www.budgethero.org .
