UTAH COUNTY — A wildfire caused by illegal fireworks started near Eagle Mountain Thursday and has burned 25 acres.
The fire began 800 feet from homes and spread north toward Camp Williams, said Utah Department of Forestry spokesman Jason Curry. The fire spread quickly at first, but crews have slowed its progress and homes do not appear to be in danger.
"It sounds like things are going pretty well," Curry said.
About 10 fire engines from multiple departments were assisting with the blaze as well as three helicopters, Curry said. Crews were aided by cooperative weather, which pushed the fire away from structures.
"Fortunately the wind was pushing the fire north," Curry said. "We could have had a much more serious situation."
