William (Bill) Glenn Leach 1931 ~ 2011
William (Bill) Glenn Leach, 80, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on July 12, 2011. He was born May 19, 1931, in Indianapolis, IN, to Eveline Hawkes and Glenn Otis Leach and was raised in San Diego and Modesto, California. He married Charlene Tate Leach on April 3, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple, and they were blessed with eight children: Cathy (Jim) Duffin, Laurie (Wayne) Carroll, W. Glenn Leach, Steve (Kerri) Leach, Colleen Collins, Sherrie Leach, Shauna (Doug) Coleman, and Jenny (Keith) Larsen. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Winifred Stark of Modesto, CA; mother-in-law, Aileen Tate; as well as many loving extended family members. Bill was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He completed a LDS mission in Western Canada from 1955-1957, and served as a bishop at BYU and as a seminary teacher in California. He found great joy in teaching gospel doctrine classes for over 30 years. Bill graduated from BYU in organizational behavior/communications. For the past 13 years he has been managing the night operations at Millcreek Retirement Residence. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Some of the loves in his life included his country, the ocean, jazz and big band music, reading, word puzzles, old movies, and hot air balloons. Nothing brought him greater joy and satisfaction than being with his family. He said, "Even with its problems and challenges, such as health issues, I wouldn't trade this life for anything, and I will be forever grateful for what it has made possible." A viewing will be held Friday evening, July 15, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Twin Peaks LDS Ward Chapel, 5235 South Wesley Road (1100 East), with a viewing from 10:00 - 10:45.
