ST. GEORGE — The new carousel in downtown St. George has been shut down after an accident sent a woman to the hospital.
The Spectrum of St. George reports an 8-foot fiberglass panel fell from the carousel's roof on Friday and struck 65-year-old Linda Williamson.
City officials say she was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center with head and neck injuries that did not appear to be serious.
Williamson was riding the carousel with her husband and young grandson when the accident occurred.
Officials say the carousel will be shut down as a precaution until the cause of the accident is determined and the problem is fixed.
