TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Idaho authorities say a bystander killed Friday during a police chase and standoff was from Utah.
Tracy L. Ivie, 43, of Lindon was killed in the incident in which a police officer was also shot in the leg, the Twin Falls County Prosecutor's Office announced Saturday.
Police say a 27-year-old Nevada man shot the officer in the leg following a chase that resulted in Ivie's death. The suspect surrendered to police after a three-hour standoff that also involved a female hostage, according to police.
Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs says Clark J. Cleveland of Spring Creek, Nev., is in custody in Twin Falls County on charges of Aggravated Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer with a weapons enhancement, Felony Eluding a Police Officer, and a warrant of detention for a probation violation for D.U.I. He's being held on $2 million bond.
Cleveland faces other potential charges following the Friday morning shooting in Twin Falls. Police say Cleveland is the only person who fired a weapon. The female hostage was released unharmed.
