Kaare Kloogh, better known as Far, our sweet father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to all died peacefully at his home on July 16, 2011 surrounded by his loved onces. Far was born in Rogaland, Stavanger, Norway, on April 24, 1930, to Edvin Kristoffer and Bertha Saghaug Kloogh. Far came to America at the age of 19 with his sister Signe on January 10, 1949. He was always proud of his Norwegian heritage but fell in love with his country and never looked back. At a Norwegian fold dance Far met his eternal companion and sweetheart, Marie (Tudi) Bergstedt Nilsen (Mor). It was love at first sight and on December 15, 1950, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Forty-four days later, Far was drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably served his adopted country in the Korean War even though he spoke very little English at the time. Far was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He cherished all of his callings in the church and all of the wonderful friendships he forged in the ward and the neighborhood. For 55 years Far and Mor lived a wonderful life together cherishing each other. The two of them loved to dance. Together they spent many years dancing in a Norwegian folk dancing group. They also enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing. They loved to spend time with family and friends, traveling, escaping to the cabin, and cleaning. He is survived by three daughters: Ann-Marie, Rebecca McGill, and Kristen all of Salt Lake City; a grandson, Matthew McGill (Elisha) of Mayfield, and a granddaughter Melissa McGill of Salt Lake City; three great-grandchildren: Seth Kaare, Ella LeeAnn, and Matti Grace McGill; two sisters: Klara Austvik of Norway, Edith (Raymond) Stensrud of Salt Lake City, and a brother Reidar (Irma) Kloogh of California. He is preceeded in death by his loving wife Tudi, his parents, his sister Signe, and his brothers William and Alf. We want to thank the staff at the Central Valley Dialysis Center especially Holli, Kay, Dar, Jason, and Phyllis for the wonderful support, care, and love they showed Kaare. We would also like to thank Kirsten and Nubia of Intermountain Hospice for their loving service they rendered to him. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 12 p.m. the East Millcreek 11th Ward, 2702 Evergreen Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held an hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. at the church and the evening prior at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Dr. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
