CLEVELAND — The prosecution has rested its case in the high-profile trial of a Cleveland man charged with killing 11 women and dumping their remains around his house and yard.
The final witness for the state against 51-year-old Anthony Sowell (SOH'-wehl) was homicide Det. Lem Griffin. He participated in Sowell's police interrogation, which was videotaped and shown to the jury over three days through Monday morning.
After the state rested, the judge sent jurors home and told them to return Tuesday morning for the start of Sowell's defense.
Sowell has pleaded not guilty and could face the death penalty if convicted.
The women vanished one by one through September 2009, the month before Sowell's arrest. Police say they were lured with drugs and alcohol.
