Even the numbers can't express how much Utahns love Harry Potter.
The Megaplex Theatre at Jordan Commons sold more tickets to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" than any of the other 4,375 theaters showing the film throughout the country. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Sandy theater had $360,400 in ticket sales, beating theaters in New York and San Francisco for the top spot.
The numbers are even more startling when cost per ticket is taken into account.
"The difference for us is that our ticket prices are generally lower when you compare it to larger cities," said Jeff Whipple, public relations representative for the Megaplex Theatres, noting that theaters in Utah seat more guests within the same dollar amount as more populous areas.
Time.com reported a record total of $43.5 million earned in midnight showings of the Potter film. With the Jordan Commons theater playing the film on all of its screens and the other Megaplex theaters adding 3 a.m. showings on opening night, Utahns contributed their fair share to the film's opening night success.
