ST. PAUL, Minn. — Republican Michele Bachmann is answering questions about her history of severe headaches, saying they wouldn't affect her ability to serve as president.

The Minnesota congresswoman rejected suggestions Tuesday that migraines would cause problems during the campaign or as commander in chief.

In a statement, Bachmann says she controls her symptoms with prescription medication and her "ability to function effectively has never been impeded."

Bachmann's statement followed a report by The Daily Caller saying Bachmann's past migraines have led to hospitalizations and left her "incapacitated." The online publication cites former aides granted anonymity.
