SALT LAKE CITY— Salt Lake City police have posted a security camera video on YouTube, seeking the public's help to find two armed, masked men who robbed a Hispanic market Friday night.
Around 8:48 p.m., two men armed with handguns entered the Gonzalez Market at 1220 S. Redwood Road. and ordered everyone to the northeast corner of the store.
The men then demanded money from employee at the register. Another employee walked out of the office during the robbery and one of the men struck him over the head with his gun. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the men fled the store and got into a dark-colored, four-door Buick, which was parked on the north side of the business, police said.
Police believe the men have been involved in several similar armed robberies.
The robbers are described as a tall, husky Hispanic man dressed in dark clothes, and a Hispanic man of medium build wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt that displays a Harper Contracting Company logo.
The video shows the robber in the black sweatshirt grabbing money from the till, as two employees watch. The second, taller robber moves into the frame wearing a black baseball cap and a blue bandana. Both men appear to be wearing surgical-type gloves.
In the background, a customer can be seen lying on the floor, trying to protectively shield a young child.
Salt Lake police ask anyone with information to call 801-799-3000. Callers may remain anonymous.
