Allan J. Parkinson passed away peacefully on July 15, 2011 at the age of 86. He was born July 27, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were James Allen and Clarice Parkinson and had one younger sister, Donna. He married his childhood sweetheart, Elaine Castagno on October 8, 1942 which marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1944. They spent 68 years together as husband and wife until her passing in June, 2010. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a young B-17 bombardier. Dad had an incredible love for his country and taught us all what it means to be a patriot. Following the war, he worked at the Tooele Army Depot for 33 years and also was an insurance agent in an agency founded by his father. Mom and Dad lived most of their lives in Grantsville, Utah but traveled extensively throughout the world. Dad loved BYU football and was a member of the Cougar Club. He and Mom spent years following the team and made many great acquaintances. Dad was an active member of the LDS Church and served as a bishop, a member of a stake presidency, and in many other church callings. He and Mom served numerous missions at Temple Square, the Jordan River Temple, and the Missionary Training Center. He loved to tell people about the Gospel. Of all things, Dad loved his family and was proud of them. He was preceded in death by Mom, his parents, and one grandson, Donnie. He is survived by his daughter, Dianne (Don) White; his son, Rich (Marla) Parkinson; his sister, Donna Sanborn; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
