Andrew (Andy) Gregory Attaway 1919 ~ 2011
Andrew (Andy) Gregory Attaway was born in Montmorenci, South Carolina on August 11, 1919, son of Millard Banks Attaway and Edith Gregory. He passed away peacefully in his Renton, Washington Home on July 16, 2011. Andy grew up in Lexington South Carolina and graduated from Lexington High School. He was a decorated World War II veteran and served his county in Nome, Alaska, Germany and France. He was also stationed during his time in the service at Fort Lewis and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. Andy worked for Safeway 34 years. He had a successful career as advertising and pricing manager. After retirement he served on the Safeway retirement board as president and active member. Always service mined, Andy was a very active Mason. He served on the Washington State Grand Lodge Team. He was an active member of the St. Andrews Lodge No. 35. He served faithfully on the Hospital Supply Corps of the Nile Shrine. He was supported by his Mason brothers in service and caring until the time of his death. Andy enjoyed many hobbies, family genealogy for 40 years, camping, travel, fishing, boating, hunting and golfing. He also loved Seattle Mariner baseball, woodworking and he was a master gardener. He is survived by the love of his life, Nadine Roberts Laycock Attaway, three sons, Joseph G. (Joanne) of Tacoma; Ronald M. (Mary) of Maple Valley; Gregory A. (Paula) of Sultan. Two step-sons, Art James Laycock (Deborah), Auburn; Larry R. Laycock (Lisa), Alpine, Utah. (Larry and his wife Lisa currently reside in Santiago Chile where he is serving as mission president for the LDS church.) Andy is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and three god-children. Funeral services ill be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in the Renton Washington LDS Stake Center, 19714 106th Ave, S.E. Renton, WA. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Funeral Arrangements made by Yahn & Son Funeral Home, Auburn, WA. Interment will be held on Monday July 25, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Mt.
