Bernard William Flannery 1925 ~ 2011

Bernard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Bernard and Alice Herzog Flannery on January 7th 1925. Raised during the Great Depression, Bernard became a strong, hard working man. He honorably served his country in the Army in World War II. He married Dorothy Virginia Carlson January 28th, 1948. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple, and lovingly raised their family. Bernard utilized his excellent leadership skills with the Hoover Company as an Area/District Manager for 38 years. He spent many happy years in retirement with his sweetheart Dottie in Quartzsite, AZ where they made countless wonderful friends. They loved to fish, travel and be with family. He tenderly and diligently cared for Dottie in their later years as she struggled with Alzheimer's. They moved to Blanding, Utah to be near their children in 2008. Dottie, his lifelong love, preceded him in death and Bernie joined her in a loving reunion on July 16th 2011. His love, his smile and his big Irish humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Bernard is survived by his children, Ginger (Mel) Poplin, Patti Palmer (Jack) Evans, Dennis (Kathy) Flannery, Dee (Lee) Meyers, Will (Kaler) Flannery, Danny (Rona) Flannery, 26 Grandchildren and 50+ Great-Grandchildren. Siblings Dorothy Hoefling, Jerald Flannery, Patricia Eskridge. Bernard, Bernie, Dad, Papa, Longlegs, Hoover, until we meet again may God hold you in the palm of his hand. Services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, Stake Center, 800 N 200 W, Blanding, Utah at 12:00. Viewing 9-11 a.m. San Juan Mortuary, 370 S Main Blanding, Utah.
